This bill extends current water fee rules in Arizona’s Pinal Active Management Area. It keeps the Arizona Water Banking fee at $0 for Pinal users until 2030, but allows the state to continue charging up to $2.50 per acre-foot of groundwater through 2030 to fund projects that improve irrigation and groundwater efficiency. Money from this fee supports a fund for upgrading wells and pipelines, helping farmers and irrigation districts save water and fix equipment. This fund will operate through 2032 and close in 2033, returning leftover money to contributors.
