How we calculate the "Score" for each bill we're tracking:
Bill Score =
total votes matching what voters want
total votes cast by the Representative on bills we are tracking
Where we get our data: open.pluralpolicy.com, a community project that pulls legislative data from the Federal and State House and Senate websites.
Official data: We track and report the votes reported by the legislature. Displayed votes are the most recent data available from the House and Senate websites through Open States.
Changed votes: Legislators are entitled to change their votes after bills pass or fail. Those changes may or may not be published by the state.
No votes: A gray circle indicates that the legislator did not vote on the latest motion for that bill. They may have been absent or otherwise unable to vote.

JUDGES Act (S 4199)
Score:

%
Federal
2024
The act seeks to address judicial understaffing by authorizing the appointment of additional district judges to manage increasing case filings in U.S. district courts. Since no new permanent district court judgeships have been established since 2003, the bill proposes creating these positions to alleviate the growing backlog, which by 2023, included 686,797 pending cases. The act stipulates a phased appointment schedule from 2025 to 2035, incrementally adding judges to various districts nationwide. Additionally, it involves financial appropriations for implementing these changes and mandates comprehensive reports evaluating courthouse utilization and judicial caseloads to ensure efficiency.
