This bill prohibits unauthorized removal or damage to public historical monuments and memorials. Violators are liable for triple the cost to restore the monument. Plaques providing context are permitted if the Secretary of State and Florida Historical Commission agree. It applies to monuments or memorials that have been removed or damaged after January 1, 2017. It specifies that a statue of Confederate Gen. Edmund Kirby, removed from Statuary Hall to be publicly displayed in Lake County.
