Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act (HR 9495)

Score:

%

This bill addresses U.S. nationals who are unlawfully or wrongfully detained or held hostage abroad by postponing tax deadlines for these individuals. The periods during which they are detained are to be disregarded when determining tax liabilities, whether actions were performed on time, and accruing penalties or interests. This provision extends to their spouses as well. Additionally, the act mandates the termination of the tax-exempt status of organizations that support terrorism. The Secretary of State and other government bodies are tasked with identifying and providing information on those involved in such activities.
