The ACLU of Michigan is the state affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union that works to defend and expand individual rights and civil liberties guaranteed by the U.S. and Michigan constitutions through litigation, legislative advocacy, public education, and community organizing.
Pursues civil liberties and civil rights policies including criminal justice reform and police accountability, voting rights, reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ equality, free speech and assembly, immigrant rights, privacy and surveillance limits, racial justice, and public-education equity.
Primarily funded by individual donations and membership dues, supplemented by foundation grants and fundraising activities.
