The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) is a U.S. trade association, founded in 1919, that represents manufacturers and suppliers across civil, military, and space aerospace sectors. AIA’s mission is to advocate for policies and federal investments that strengthen national security, sustain the U.S. industrial base, accelerate innovation, and grow the aerospace and defense economy.
Defense and national security procurement and modernization, federal budget and appropriations for defense and NASA, export controls and trade policy, industrial base and supply-chain resilience, research and development and innovation funding, aviation safety and regulatory policy, workforce development and STEM education, space policy and commercialization, acquisition reform and regulatory reform
Primarily funded by membership dues and fees from more than 300 corporate members, supplemented by event and conference sponsorships, publication and standards sales, and other service revenue
Major member companies (examples): The Boeing Company, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon Technologies, General Dynamics, BAE Systems, GE Aerospace, Honeywell, Textron; prominent industry leaders who participate in AIA governance include Eric Fanning (President & CEO of AIA) and senior executives from member corporations
