The Alliance for Automotive Innovation is a Washington, D.C.–based trade association that represents the broad U.S. automotive ecosystem — vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, battery and semiconductor producers, and mobility technology firms. Formed in 2020 from the merger of two industry groups, the alliance advocates for policies supporting a transition to cleaner, safer and smarter personal transportation while promoting the industry’s economic and workforce contributions.
Advocates on federal and state transportation, safety and technology regulation; vehicle emissions and fuel standards; electric vehicle incentives and infrastructure; battery and supply‑chain policy; trade and tariffs affecting auto imports and inputs; autonomous vehicle and mobility innovation regulation; data/privacy standards for vehicles; and workforce and manufacturing competitiveness measures.
Primarily funded by membership dues and corporate sponsorships from automakers, suppliers and mobility technology companies.
Led by CEO John Bozzella and governed by member companies including major OEMs and suppliers such as General Motors, Ford, Toyota, Stellantis, Volkswagen, BMW, Hyundai, Bosch, LG and semiconductor and mobility firms; predecessor organizations Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and Global Automakers; and affiliated programs such as the Auto Alliance advocacy campaign and partnerships with research organizations (e.g., Center for Automotive Research).
