About the Organization

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is the national professional association for family physicians and family medicine residents and medical students. It promotes family medicine, supports physicians through education and practice resources, and advocates for policies that strengthen primary care and improve patient, family, and community health.

Policy Goals

Health care and primary care policy, physician workforce and graduate medical education, payment and reimbursement, Medicare and Medicaid, public health, preventive care, health equity, administrative simplification, and other issues affecting family physicians and access to care.

Funding

Primarily member dues, educational and conference revenue, publications, sponsorships, and related non-profit program income.

Affiliates

AAFP Foundation; state and local chapter organizations; family medicine residency and student members; prominent national leadership includes elected physician members and the AAFP Congress of Delegates.
