The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) is the national medical specialty society for physicians in physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry). It focuses on advancing the specialty, supporting physicians, and improving care for people with disabilities and musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions.
Healthcare workforce and physician practice issues, specialty medical education and certification, rehabilitation and disability policy, patient access to rehabilitation services, quality and safety in care delivery, and Medicare/insurance coverage issues affecting physiatry and rehabilitation medicine.
Primarily funded by membership dues, educational programs, conferences, publications, and corporate support/advertising sponsorships.
Member physiatrists; volunteer leaders including the Board of Governors; related AAPM&R councils, groups, and committees; and partnerships with corporate supporters and institution partners.
