About the Organization

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is a national nonpartisan organization founded to advance equity for women and girls through research, education, and advocacy; it works to close pay gaps, increase access to education and STEM fields, prevent gender-based violence, and expand leadership opportunities.

Policy Goals

Advocates for educational equity and Title IX enforcement, pay equity and workplace fairness, increased access to STEM and higher education for women and girls, protections against gender-based violence and campus sexual assault, civil and voting rights that affect women, and public policies that support economic security for women (including student debt and family leave issues).

Funding

Primarily supported by membership dues, individual donations and bequests, foundation grants, program fees, and fundraising events and campaigns.

Affiliates

AAUW Action Fund (the organization’s affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy arm), national board and staff, and a network of state and local AAUW branches and campus/community partners.
