The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the nonpartisan advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society. ACS CAN mobilizes survivors, caregivers, health professionals, and the public to influence federal and state public policy that prevents cancer, expands access to care and screenings, accelerates research funding, and improves patient outcomes and survivorship.
Advocacy on federal and state health policy including cancer research funding, prevention and public health programs, tobacco control and regulation, vaccination and screening initiatives (e.g., HPV), insurance access and affordability (Medicaid/Medicare protections and expansions), clinical trial access and patient protections, and efforts to reduce disparities in cancer care.
Primarily funded through individual donations and philanthropic contributions, fundraising events and campaigns, and corporate and foundation support; operates separately from the American Cancer Society's 501(c)(3) charitable arm.
