The American Cement Association (ACA) is the U.S. national trade association representing cement manufacturers and their suppliers. Formerly the Portland Cement Association (founded in 1916), ACA provides research, market intelligence, technical guidance, workforce development, and industry-wide programs while advocating for safety, infrastructure investment, and a transition to lower‑carbon cement and concrete products, including an industry Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
Advocacy on infrastructure funding and federal/state procurement rules; environmental and climate policy affecting industrial emissions (GHG regulation, carbon capture, fuels and energy policy, air permitting); building codes and material standards; industrial regulation and permitting; trade and transportation policy; workforce safety and labor issues; research and innovation funding for decarbonization and materials technology.
Primarily funded by membership dues from U.S. cement manufacturers and associate members, supplemented by revenue from conferences and events, publications, sponsorships, and fee‑for‑service research and technical programs.
Major U.S. cement producers and associate members (for example CalPortland, Lehigh Hanson/HeidelbergCement, Cemex, Holcim, Cementos Argos, Eagle Materials, Titan America), partner industry groups and standards organizations (e.g., American Concrete Institute), and federal agency collaborators; Michael Ireland serves as President & CEO.
