The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) is the national trade association representing private consulting engineering firms in the United States. ACEC advocates for the business interests of member firms, promotes quality engineering services, and advances policies to increase infrastructure investment, improve procurement practices, and strengthen the engineering business climate.
Infrastructure funding and financing; federal and state transportation, water, energy and environmental policy; procurement and contracting reforms including Qualifications-Based Selection (QBS); tax and fiscal policy affecting engineering firms; professional liability and contract terms; workforce development and professional licensure; public-private partnerships and resilience/climate adaptation policy.
Primarily membership dues from consulting engineering firms, supplemented by conference and event fees, sponsorships, training and publications revenue, and contributions to affiliated PAC activities.
State and territorial ACEC member organizations (e.g., ACEC California, ACEC New York), the ACEC Research Institute, and the ACEC Political Action Committee (ACEC PAC), along with numerous national, regional and local member consulting engineering firms.
