About the Organization

The American Exploration & Production Council (AXPC) is a national trade association that represents leading independent U.S. oil and natural gas exploration and production companies. AXPC’s stated mission is to promote the value of American-produced oil and gas, educate policymakers and the public, and advocate for what it describes as responsible upstream development, environmental stewardship, and policies that support domestic energy production and exports.

Policy Goals

AXPC typically pursues federal policy positions on permitting and leasing reform for federal and tribal lands, regulatory certainty and rulemaking for upstream operations (including methane and emissions standards), tax and investment provisions affecting independent producers, infrastructure and market access (pipelines and LNG exports), and policies intended to maintain affordable, reliable domestic energy supplies.

Funding

Primarily funded by membership dues and corporate contributions from its member exploration and production companies, supplemented by event sponsorships and fee‑for‑service publications and briefings.

Affiliates

Senior leadership and board members from major independent producers and integrated firms, including AXPC President and CEO Anne Bradbury and Executive Chairman Travis D. Stice; member company leaders from firms such as Antero Resources, Apache Corporation, ConocoPhillips, Devon Energy, Diamondback Energy, EOG Resources, Coterra Energy, and others.
