The American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) is a U.S.-based membership trade organization that represents fly-fishing businesses, guides, outfitters, manufacturers, retailers and related service providers. Its stated mission is to advance the fly-fishing industry through business development, education, events and advocacy while promoting conservation, sustainable fisheries and access to public waters.
Advocacy for fisheries conservation and habitat restoration, protection of public access to streams and rivers, invasive species prevention and aquatic health, policies affecting small outdoor businesses and guide/outfitter regulations, outdoor recreation and tourism promotion, and federal/state funding for restoration and science related to fisheries.
Primarily funded by member dues and industry contributions, supplemented by event and sponsorship revenue, program fees and philanthropic grants (through its affiliated conservation fund).
AFFTA Fisheries Fund (the association's 501(c)(3) conservation arm) and a network of member fly shops, guides, outfitters and brands; conservation partners and past grantees have included organizations such as American Rivers, Wild Salmon Center and Bonefish & Tarpon Trust.
