The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) is the national trade association representing U.S. pulp, paper, packaging and wood products manufacturers. AF&PA advocates for sustainable forest management, promotes recycled fiber and circular-economy approaches, and advances public policies that support the competitiveness and environmental performance of the forest products industry.
Typically pursues legislation and regulation on sustainable forestry and forestland conservation, recycling and paper recovery, climate and carbon accounting for forest products, air and water regulatory compliance, manufacturing competitiveness, trade policy and tariffs, energy and transportation policy, and workforce development for the forest products sector.
Primarily funded by membership dues and fees from forest products companies and corporate sponsors, plus revenue from events, publications, and program services.
Major member and industry partners including large U.S. paper and packaging companies (for example International Paper, WestRock, Georgia-Pacific, Sylvamo), state forest products associations, and allied trade groups such as the American Wood Council and national forest-owner organizations.
