The American Gas Association (AGA) is a U.S. trade association that represents companies engaged in the distribution of natural gas. AGA's mission is to advocate for safe, reliable, affordable natural gas service, advance industry best practices, and shape public policy affecting the gas value chain.
Advocates for federal and state regulatory policies favorable to natural gas utilities, pipeline and infrastructure investment, pipeline and workplace safety standards, market and tax policies that support utility investment, emissions and climate policy approaches affecting gas use (including technology and market-based solutions), and energy reliability and affordability measures.
Primarily funded by membership dues and fees from natural gas local distribution companies and industry stakeholders, supplemented by event revenues and sponsorships.
Membership and engagement include U.S. investor-owned and municipal local gas distribution companies, gas utility executives, industry service providers, and coordination with related regional/state utility and energy trade organizations.
