The American Gas Association (AGA) is a national trade association representing local natural gas utilities that deliver natural gas throughout the United States. Its mission is to advocate for safe, reliable, and affordable natural gas service and to promote policies that support the role of natural gas in meeting the nation’s energy needs.
AGA typically pursues legislative and regulatory policies related to energy infrastructure development, natural gas utility regulation, pipeline safety, environmental and emissions standards, energy affordability, climate and clean energy policy, and federal and state energy market oversight.
Funded primarily through membership dues and contributions from investor-owned and publicly owned natural gas utility companies.
Member companies include major U.S. natural gas utilities such as Dominion Energy, Southern Company Gas, CenterPoint Energy, and Atmos Energy.
