The American Grassfed Association (AGA) is a producer-founded and producer-run non-profit organization that supports American family farms and ranchers through third-party certification, advocacy, education, and market development. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, AGA promotes and maintains national standards for grassfed and pasture-based livestock, works with policymakers and the USDA on agricultural policy, and advances consumer awareness of grassfed products.
AGA typically pursues agricultural and food policy initiatives that support grassfed and pasture-based livestock production, including federal labeling standards, USDA definitions and certification programs, farm bill provisions, rural economic development, regenerative agriculture, animal welfare standards, and policies benefiting small and mid-sized family farms and ranchers.
Primarily funded through producer membership dues, certification fees, donations, grants, and event revenue.
Board members and affiliates include livestock producers and industry leaders such as Will Harris of White Oak Pastures, Don Davis of Bandera Grasslands, Chad Lemke of Grassfed Livestock Alliance, and partnerships with regenerative agriculture and sustainable food organizations.
