About the Organization

The American Horse Council (AHC) is a Washington, D.C.–based national trade association representing the United States equine industry. Founded in 1969, it serves as a unified voice before Congress and federal agencies, advocating for the social, economic, and legislative interests of horse owners, breeders, veterinarians, farriers, equine businesses, and state horse councils.

Policy Goals

Federal and state legislation affecting the horse industry, including tax policy, land use and public lands access, animal health and biosecurity, transportation, labor and immigration issues, liability and insurance, environmental regulations, and equine welfare standards.

Funding

Membership dues from individuals and equine organizations, sponsorships, grants, and industry partnerships.

Affiliates

Coalition of State Horse Councils, American Horse Council Foundation, state horse councils, breed associations, and national equine organizations.
