The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national trade association that represents and advocates for hospitals, health systems and related health care organizations. Its mission is to support members in delivering high-quality, equitable and affordable patient care by providing policy analysis, education, data and advocacy before Congress, federal agencies and state policymakers.
Hospital and health system financing and reimbursement (Medicare/Medicaid), regulatory relief and compliance, public health preparedness and emergency response, health workforce policy, quality and patient safety standards, value-based payment and delivery reform, health information technology and interoperability, rural and community hospital support, behavioral health integration and telehealth policy.
Primarily membership dues and fees from hospitals and health systems, supplemented by revenue from education and conferences, publications, data services, corporate sponsorships and grants.
State hospital associations and member hospitals and health systems; the Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET) and other AHA-operated research, education and policy units; leadership and board members drawn from major hospital systems.
