About the Organization

American Jewish World Service (AJWS) is a U.S.-based Jewish-led international non-profit founded in 1985 that funds grassroots partners, provides humanitarian relief, and advocates to advance human rights and end poverty in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, guided by Jewish values.

Policy Goals

International development and humanitarian assistance; human rights and civil liberties; gender equality and women's rights; LGBT rights; indigenous and land rights; economic and food justice; refugee and migrant protection; and advocacy on U.S. foreign-aid and human-rights policy.

Funding

Primarily individual donors and major gifts, philanthropic foundations, community fundraising and events, and institutional grants.

Affiliates

Operates through and in partnership with dozens of grassroots partner organizations across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and collaborates with U.S. Jewish, interfaith, and human-rights organizations.
