The American Land Title Association (ALTA) is the national trade association for the land title insurance industry, representing title insurance companies, title and settlement agents, abstracters, title searchers, and real estate attorneys. Its mission is to improve the skills and knowledge of providers in real property transactions, advocate for member concerns, and promote standards that support the safe and efficient transfer of real property.
Real estate settlement and title insurance regulation, property rights and land transfer policy, anti-fraud and anti-money-laundering compliance, consumer protection in real estate transactions, privacy and information security, and industry standards for title and settlement practices.
Primarily funded by member dues, membership fees, education and event revenue, and related association services.
