About the Organization

The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) is the professional home and national voice for osteopathic physicians (DOs) and osteopathic medical students in the United States. It promotes the distinctive philosophy and practice of osteopathic medicine, supports education and board certification, and advocates for public health, research, and patient access to care.

Policy Goals

Health care workforce and physician licensure, medical education and accreditation, board certification, public health, research funding, access to care, telehealth, primary care, and federal and state health policy affecting osteopathic physicians and patients.

Funding

Primarily membership dues, certification and educational program fees, sponsorships, and related association revenue.

Affiliates

American Osteopathic Foundation; divisional societies and specialty colleges; osteopathic medical schools; osteopathic physicians and medical students; current AOA leadership and officers.
