The American Trucking Associations (ATA) is the leading U.S. trade association representing the trucking industry. ATA advocates for policies that support safe, efficient, and profitable ground freight transportation, provides industry research and data, promotes safety and workforce development, and serves as a central voice for for‑hire and private motor carriers, suppliers, and state trucking associations.
Federal and state transportation and infrastructure funding, highway and bridge investment, truck safety and regulatory policy (FMCSA rulemaking, hours‑of‑service, electronic logging), freight logistics and supply‑chain policy, vehicle emissions and fuel policy, autonomous and connected vehicle regulation, taxation and fuel excise policy, workforce development and training, and trade and port/intermodal policy.
Primarily funded by membership dues from motor carriers, state trucking associations and industry suppliers, together with conference and event revenues, sponsorships, and research funding.
State trucking associations, ATA councils and committees such as the Technology & Maintenance Council and Safety Management Council, the ATA Foundation and industry research partners including the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), plus major carrier and supplier member organizations.
