AMVETS (American Veterans) is a congressionally chartered veterans service organization founded in 1944 that advocates for the rights and benefits of U.S. military veterans. Its mission is to enhance and safeguard the entitlements of all American veterans, improve quality of life for veterans and their families, and promote patriotism through community service and youth programs.
AMVETS typically pursues legislative policies related to veterans’ health care, disability compensation, education benefits, mental health services, employment and transition assistance, military family support, national defense, and protections for service members and retirees.
Primarily funded through individual donations, membership dues, fundraising programs, and charitable contributions.
