About the Organization

AMVETS (American Veterans) is a Congressionally chartered veterans service organization founded in 1944 that advocates for American veterans, service members, and their families through legislative advocacy, claims assistance, employment support, and community programs.

Policy Goals

Veterans’ benefits and entitlements, Department of Veterans Affairs funding and oversight, military and veteran employment and training, homelessness and housing for veterans, disability compensation, POW/MIA issues, flag protection, and national defense-related veterans policy.

Funding

Primarily membership support, donations, thrift store operations, and charitable fundraising through the AMVETS National Service Foundation.

Affiliates

AMVETS National Service Foundation, AMVETS National Auxiliary, Sons of AMVETS, and AMVETS posts and departments nationwide.
