About the Organization

API Council (Asian & Pacific Islander Council of San Francisco) is a coalition of community-based nonprofits that advocates for equity and resources for San Francisco’s Asian and Pacific Islander residents. The Council organizes member agencies to secure culturally and linguistically appropriate services, influence local policy and budget decisions, and coordinate community programs in areas like food security, health access, senior services, arts and cultural preservation.

Policy Goals

Local budget and appropriations for social services, language access and immigrant services, anti-hate and public safety measures, affordable housing and senior housing, workforce development and job training, public health and food security, arts and cultural funding, and policies supporting community-based service delivery

Funding

Primarily philanthropic grants, government contracts and city funding, donations and member organization support; operates with fiscal sponsorship from a local community youth center

Community Youth Center of San Francisco (fiscal sponsor), a network of roughly 50–60 member Asian and Pacific Islander community-based nonprofits; Executive Director Cally Wong
