The Association for Behavioral Health and Wellness (ABHW) is a national trade association representing health plans that manage behavioral health insurance benefits. It focuses on advancing access to high-quality, evidence-based mental health and substance use disorder care, reducing stigma, and promoting integration of behavioral and physical health care.
Behavioral health coverage and reimbursement, mental health parity, substance use disorder treatment access, insurance regulation, care integration, quality improvement, stigma reduction, and evidence-based public health policy related to mental health and addiction care.
Primarily funded by member health plans and corporate partners through dues, memberships, sponsorships, and related association programs.
Member companies include Aetna, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Carelon Behavioral Health, Centene, Evernorth, Kaiser Permanente, Lucet, Magellan Health, Molina Healthcare, Optum, and PerformCare; corporate partners include mission-aligned behavioral health and health care organizations.
