About the Organization

The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) is a national professional association that represents public health laboratories and works to strengthen laboratory systems in the United States and globally. Its mission is to promote the value and contributions of public health laboratories and improve public health laboratory systems and practices.

Policy Goals

Public health laboratory policy, disease surveillance and testing, laboratory preparedness and response, workforce development, scientific and professional standards, and advocacy for funding and support of public health laboratory systems.

Funding

Primarily membership dues, grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements, including federal public health funding.

Affiliates

State, local, territorial, and federal public health laboratories; CDC and other public health partners; APHL board and member laboratory leaders.
