The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is a U.S.-based membership organization that advances policy, research, education, and best practices to improve the lives of people with developmental and other disabilities across the lifespan by supporting a national network of university-based programs.
Federal and state disability policy, developmental disability services, Medicaid and home- and community-based services (HCBS), early intervention and special education (including IDEA), workforce development for disability service providers, family support and caregiver policy, inclusive education and employment, public health and emergency preparedness for people with disabilities, and research funding for neurodevelopmental disorders.
Combination of federal grants and contracts, membership dues from university-based centers, foundation and philanthropic grants, and fee-for-service/state contract revenue.
Network members including University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs), LEND programs (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) and IDDRCs; frequent collaborators include the Administration for Community Living, Maternal and Child Health Bureau, NICHD, state developmental disabilities councils, The Arc, Autism Society, and the National Disability Rights Network.
