About the Organization

The Association of Washington Assistant Attorneys General (AWAAG) is a member organization formed in 2013 by Washington State assistant attorneys general to advocate for competitive salaries, benefits, workplace policies, and professional standards. AWAAG is the bargaining representative for AAGs in Washington (organized as Local 5297) and works to improve retention, pay parity, and working conditions for assistant attorneys general across state agencies.

Policy Goals

Collective bargaining and labor/employment issues for state attorneys, state employee compensation and benefits, workplace policies and professional standards for public-sector attorneys, state budget and staffing advocacy affecting legal services

Funding

Primarily funded by member dues and union resources through its affiliation with the Washington Federation of State Employees / AFSCME Council 28
