Founded in 1904, the Association of Washington Business (AWB) is Washington state’s largest statewide business association and serves as the state chamber of commerce and the manufacturing and technology association. AWB’s mission is to promote economic prosperity across Washington by representing employers in the legislative and regulatory process, providing member services, and advancing policies that support a competitive business climate.
Advocacy for pro-business tax and fiscal policy, regulatory reform and permitting efficiency, workforce development and training, labor and employment policy (including workers' compensation and benefit programs), transportation and infrastructure, energy and natural resources policy balanced with business interests, and economic development incentives to retain and attract employers.
Primarily funded by member dues and fees, event and conference revenue, program service contracts and sponsorships, and limited earned income from affiliated programs.
Affiliated with and accredited by national and local business networks including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; counts major employers among its members such as Boeing, Microsoft and other large Washington-based companies, as well as numerous local chambers, industry councils and AWB programs (e.g., AWB HealthChoice and workforce development initiatives).
