About the Organization

Bank Policy Institute (BPI) is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit research and advocacy organization that represents the public policy interests of major U.S. banks. BPI produces policy research, engages with lawmakers and regulators, and advocates for regulatory and legislative outcomes intended to promote a resilient banking system and efficient capital markets.

Policy Goals

Prudential bank regulation and supervision, capital and liquidity standards, resolution and crisis management, financial stability, capital markets and market structure, payments and fintech policy, cybersecurity and data protection, tax and fiscal policy affecting banks, international regulatory coordination, and consumer compliance issues as they affect banks and the broader financial system.

Funding

Primarily funded by membership dues and contributions from large commercial and investment banks, supplemented by conference sponsorships and revenue from research and events.

Affiliates

Member banks and major financial institutions (for example large U.S. bank holding companies), and regular collaboration with industry groups such as The Clearing House and other banking trade associations; high-profile affiliations typically include senior executives from member banks who participate in BPI governance and working groups.
