About the Organization

Benton Conservation District is a locally governed conservation district serving Benton County, Washington. Its mission is to encourage wise stewardship of soil, water, and other natural resources for county residents through voluntary programs, technical assistance, education, habitat restoration, and partnerships that support agricultural sustainability and healthy waterways.

Policy Goals

Promotes land and water conservation, voluntary stewardship and agricultural best practices, irrigation efficiency, watershed and salmon habitat restoration, invasive species management, conservation education and outreach, and policies that increase grant and technical assistance for private landowners and small farms.

Funding

Primarily public funding and project-based revenue: state and federal conservation grants and program funds, interlocal agreements and contracts with county or municipal partners, USDA and agency cost-share programs, fee-for-service/project reimbursements, and limited donations or local sponsorships.

Affiliates

Washington State Conservation Commission, National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD), USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), local governments in Benton County, regional watershed councils and federal partners such as U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
