Blue Star Families is a national nonprofit founded in 2009 by military family members to strengthen and empower military and veteran-connected families by connecting them with local communities, providing programs and research, and advocating for improved quality of life for service members and their families.
Advocacy and research on military family quality of life, including military spouse employment and licensure portability, childcare and early education, housing and food insecurity, caregiver support and veteran family transition services, community integration initiatives, and policies that support military readiness and family resilience.
Primarily philanthropic grants and major gifts, corporate partnerships and sponsorships, and individual donations (supplemented by program grants and event revenue).
Corporate and philanthropic partners such as CSX and Craig Newmark Philanthropies; major funders including the Patrick J.
