The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) is a U.S. railroad craft union that represents locomotive engineers and related operating employees. Its mission is to protect members’ wages, benefits, safety, working conditions and job security through collective bargaining, grievance representation, safety advocacy and legislative action.
Collective bargaining and labor rights; rail safety and hours-of-service regulation; crew-consist and staffing rules; implementation and oversight of safety technologies (e.g., PTC); retirement, health care and pension protections for railroad workers; workforce training and apprenticeship programs; federal transportation and infrastructure funding affecting rail operations.
Primarily funded by member dues and assessments from local lodges, with additional revenue from investments and affiliated organizational support for specific activities.
