About the Organization

California Youth Connection (CYC) is a statewide, youth-led nonprofit that empowers current and former foster youth to lead advocacy, policy reform, and leadership-development efforts to improve California's child welfare system and outcomes for transition-age youth.

Policy Goals

Child welfare reform and oversight, foster youth rights and permanency, transition-age youth services (housing, education, employment), juvenile justice reform, mental health access, and youth leadership development and participation in policymaking.

Funding

Primarily funded through foundation grants, philanthropic donations, government grants and contracts, and individual contributions.

Affiliates

Works in partnership with county youth leadership boards, child welfare advocacy and legal organizations, statewide and national child welfare funders and advocates, and networks of current and former foster youth leaders.
