About the Organization

CASA is a large U.S.-based community organization that organizes, provides services to, and advocates for Latino and immigrant communities. It combines direct services (legal aid, workforce and language programs, family and housing assistance) with community organizing and civic engagement to expand access, defend immigrant rights, and build political power for low-income and immigrant families.

Policy Goals

Comprehensive immigration reform and protections from deportation, access to driver's licenses and state IDs, language access and interpretation, workers' rights and wage enforcement, tenant and housing protections, expansion of social services and health access, voter registration and civic participation efforts

Funding

Primarily philanthropic grants and foundation support supplemented by individual donations, government contracts/grants for service delivery, and earned/restricted program revenue

Affiliates

CASA in Action (civic/advocacy arm), National Day Laborer Organizing Network, regional CASA affiliates in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and allied organizations such as UnidosUS; prominent leader: Gustavo Torres (executive director)
