Catholic Charities USA is the national office for a network of local Catholic Charities agencies that deliver social services, disaster relief and refugee resettlement across the United States. Rooted in Catholic social teaching, the organization coordinates service delivery, develops program standards, and advocates for policies to reduce poverty and support vulnerable families and immigrants.
Typically pursues policies that expand the social safety net and anti-poverty programs; increase funding and rights for immigrants and refugees (including resettlement and family reunification); fund disaster response and emergency assistance; support affordable housing and homelessness prevention; improve access to healthcare and behavioral health services; advance hunger relief and child and family services; combat human trafficking; and promote partnerships between faith-based providers and government for social service delivery.
Primarily funded by private donations and diocesan contributions, supplemented by federal, state and local government grants and contracts, foundation grants, United Way support, and fees for services.
A nationwide network of local Catholic Charities agencies (for example Catholic Charities of New York and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago), the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, local dioceses, and partnerships with other Catholic and faith-based relief organizations.
