About the Organization

The Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA) is a national leadership organization representing Catholic-sponsored health care providers and systems. Its mission is to advance the Catholic health ministry of the United States in caring for people and communities, particularly those who are poor and vulnerable, and to advocate for health care policies consistent with Catholic social teaching.

Policy Goals

CHA typically advocates for policies related to health care access and coverage, Medicaid and Medicare funding, protection for vulnerable populations, health equity, nonprofit hospital tax policy, ethical and religious directives in health care, and broader public health and social service programs.

Funding

Primarily funded through membership dues from Catholic hospitals, health systems, and related health care organizations.

Affiliates

Affiliated with Catholic-sponsored hospitals and health systems across the United States and guided by the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services issued by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
