About the Organization

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit policy research organization that analyzes federal and state fiscal policies and their effects on low- and moderate-income people. CBPP produces research, data-driven analysis, and policy recommendations to inform lawmakers, advocates, and the public on budget, tax, health, and anti-poverty programs.

Policy Goals

Federal and state budget and tax policy, social safety-net programs (Medicaid, SNAP, TANF), health coverage and access, income security programs (EITC, child tax credits), child and family supports, and state fiscal policy and spending priorities.

Funding

Primarily funded by philanthropic foundation grants and charitable contributions, supplemented by individual donations and research grants.

Affiliates

Frequently collaborates with national and state policy research organizations and advocacy groups, including state fiscal policy centers, the Economic Policy Institute, the Urban Institute, anti-poverty and child-advocacy organizations, and allied policy coalitions.
