The City of Lake City is the municipal government for the community titled ‘Lake City.’ As the local public corporation it provides core services to residents and businesses including public safety (police and fire), public works (streets, water, sewer, stormwater), land use and permitting, local economic development, parks and recreation, and administration of local ordinances and budgets.

Primarily funded by local revenues such as property taxes, local sales and use taxes, utility user fees and service charges, permits and fines, supplemented by state and federal grants and intergovernmental transfers and one-time capital bonds or levies when authorized.
