The Coalition for Community Solar Access (CCSA) is a national trade association that advocates for the expansion of community solar programs so renters, low‑ and moderate‑income households, businesses, and other customers can subscribe to locally sited solar generation. CCSA provides policy guidance, model legislation, regulatory engagement, industry best practices, and public advocacy to grow competitive, consumer‑focused community solar markets.
State and federal legislation and regulatory rules to create, expand, and defend community solar programs; consumer protections and program integrity; low‑ and moderate‑income inclusion and equitable access; compensation and valuation mechanisms for distributed solar; interconnection and grid integration reforms; incentives and tax policy that enable project development.
Primarily supported by membership dues, corporate sponsorships and industry contributions from community solar developers, technology firms, and service providers, supplemented by event revenue and consulting or research contracts.
Membership includes community solar developers and industry partners (founding supporters included Clean Energy Collective, Community Energy, Ecoplexus, Ethical Electric, First Solar, Recurrent Energy); senior leaders include CEO Jeff Cramer and board leaders from companies such as Pivot Energy (Tom Hunt).
