About the Organization

The Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) is a non-profit, nationwide membership association of state banking and financial regulators (including all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories). CSBS supports state-based supervision by promoting safety and soundness, consumer protection, coordinated supervision of banks and nonbank financial services, examiner training, and policies that preserve and strengthen the U.S. dual-banking system.

Policy Goals

State bank and nonbank supervision and licensing, preservation of the dual-banking system, consumer financial protection, regulatory and supervisory standards, coordination of multistate oversight (including mortgage and fintech supervision), regulatory technology and data initiatives, examiner training and accreditation, and model rule development

Funding

Primarily funded by member dues and assessments from state banking and financial regulatory agencies, revenue from services and events (training, conferences, licensing/registry services and system fees), and occasional grants or sponsorships

Affiliates

State banking and financial regulators (state banking departments and commissioners across 50 states, DC and U.S. territories), the State Regulatory Registry / NMLS-related entities, the CSBS Education Foundation, and related state regulatory organizations
