Conservatives for Responsible Stewardship (CRS) is a national nonprofit grassroots organization that promotes environmental stewardship and natural resource conservation from a conservative perspective. Founded in 1999 as the REP Environmental Education Foundation and later affiliated with ConservAmerica, CRS seeks to demonstrate that protecting air, water, public lands, wildlife, and addressing climate and energy challenges are consistent with core conservative principles such as fiscal responsibility, prudence, and market-based solutions.
CRS advocates for the protection of public lands and national monuments, support for the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and NEPA, responsible energy development including clean energy and nuclear power, climate policy solutions such as carbon reduction measures, and opposition to policies that weaken federal conservation safeguards or transfer federal lands for expanded resource extraction.
Primarily supported through charitable donations and foundation grants as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Affiliated with ConservAmerica (formerly Republicans for Environmental Protection); associated with conservative environmental advocates and former Republican policymakers who support market-based conservation and climate solutions.
Non-profit organization (501(c)(3))
