About the Organization

The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) is a non-profit trade association that represents credit unions serving U.S. military members, veterans, and their families. DCUC coordinates advocacy, education, and operational support on military- and veteran-related financial issues, working with Congress, the Department of Defense, the National Credit Union Administration, and other federal agencies to protect and advance access to financial services for the military community.

Policy Goals

Advocacy on military and veterans banking issues, regulatory matters affecting credit unions (NCUA rules, Military Lending Act implementation), on-base access and facility agreements, consumer financial protection policies as they relate to service members, credit card and lending legislation, community banking and credit union inclusion in federal programs, financial education and readiness initiatives for service members and veterans.

Funding

Primarily funded by member credit union dues, conference and event fees, sponsorships, and program partnerships.

Affiliates

Member credit unions (over 180 nationwide), National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Armed Forces Financial Network, CUES, and senior industry leaders including DCUC President & CEO Anthony Hernandez and executives from prominent military-focused credit unions such as PenFed.
