About the Organization

Delta Council is a regional economic development organization founded in 1935 and headquartered in Stoneville, Mississippi. It represents eighteen Delta and part-Delta counties in northwest Mississippi and brings together agricultural, business, and professional leaders to promote economic growth, improve infrastructure and public services, and strengthen agriculture and rural communities in the Mississippi Delta.

Policy Goals

Agricultural policy, farm commodity programs, flood control and infrastructure, research funding for agricultural science and extension services, economic and industrial development, rural community development, and regional transportation and workforce initiatives.

Funding

Membership dues from individuals and businesses and financial support from the counties it represents.

Affiliates

Mississippi State University Delta Research and Extension Center, USDA Agricultural Research Service, National Cotton Council, and regional agricultural commodity organizations.
