Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a historically Black, not-for-profit collegiate sorority founded at Howard University in 1913. The organization advances public service, scholarship, and social action through national programs and a network of collegiate and alumnae chapters focused on education, community development, and civic engagement.
Typically pursues policies and programs related to civil rights and social justice, voter registration and political empowerment, public education and scholarships, economic development, public health and wellness, criminal justice reform, and community service initiatives.
Primarily supported by member dues and chapter fundraising, supplemented by donations and grants, corporate sponsorships, event revenue, and affiliated philanthropic foundations.
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) and other Delta-affiliated philanthropic entities, plus a nationwide network of collegiate and alumnae chapters and notable members in public life.
