About the Organization

Empowering Pacific Islander Communities (EPIC) is a national, Los Angeles–based nonprofit founded in 2009 that advances social justice for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) communities through culture-centered advocacy, leadership development, community-driven research, civic engagement, and narrative change. EPIC describes itself as pro-Black, pro-Indigenous, and anti-racist and works to elevate NHPI policy priorities and leadership at local, state, and federal levels.

Policy Goals

Advocacy on NHPI health equity, education access, immigration and family stability, housing and survivor services, civic empowerment and voting rights, data disaggregation and community-driven research, leadership development and narrative change tied to anti-racist and Indigenous policy priorities.

Funding

Primarily funded through philanthropic grants and donations, program and project grants (including government grants for specific programs), and fiscal sponsorship support; has received foundation and major donor support in addition to individual contributions.

Affiliates

Fiscally sponsored by Community Partners; partners with college campuses and community groups for the PILOT leadership program; has received support from national philanthropic funders and donors.
